Services Provided

Field STC Verification, Construction-Phase Support

A construction manager finishing a Class A commercial office fit-out needed the newly built demising walls verified to their specified rating, STC 50 to 55, before handing the space to the owner. The timeline was urgent.

Memtech Acoustics field-tested the completed walls against the specification with calibrated, NIST-traceable Class 1 instrumentation, following the recognized field standard for airborne sound isolation. We measured each wall as built and reported the achieved rating against the contract requirement.

Testing before turnover meant any shortfall could be corrected while the trades were still mobilized, not chased as a callback against retainage after occupancy. The construction manager received documented results they could hand straight to the owner, closing the acoustic line in the closeout with data, not assurances.

Highlights

  • Class A demising walls tested against the specified STC 50 to 55 target
  • Calibrated, NIST-traceable Class 1 instrumentation, following the recognized field test standard
  • Documented results delivered on an urgent pre-turnover timeline
  • Turnover paperwork the construction manager could hand straight to the owner

The Complaint That Kept Coming Back

A facilities team had bought acoustic panels twice and the complaint kept returning. Memtech measured the space, found the real cause was sound transmission between rooms, corrected it, and validated the fix with before-and-after data.

Packaging Room Noise Exposure Assessment

A manufacturer's packaging room put 7 of 10 employees over the OSHA action level. Memtech Acoustics ran full-shift dosimetry and octave-band area mapping, isolated the tonal and broadband sources, and defined the engineering controls, so the fix targeted the noise rather than defaulting to hearing protection.

Auditorium Proscenium Acoustic Design

A school district planned to redesign its auditorium's stage proscenium for a fresh look. Memtech Acoustics measured the room first, proved the existing curved reflector was doing real acoustic work, and delivered a redesigned proscenium that preserves sound projection to every seat while giving the design team the updated aesthetic.
