Measurement, Diagnosis, Treatment, Validation

A facilities team had already purchased acoustic panels twice, and the occupant noise complaints kept coming back. The panels were treating a symptom the measurement had never confirmed.

Memtech Acoustics measured the space with calibrated, NIST-traceable instrumentation and found the real cause was sound transmission between rooms, not reverberation inside one. Absorption was never going to close a transmission path.

We corrected the transmission path, phased the work around an occupied and operating building, and measured again under the same conditions. The before-and-after data gave the facilities director documented proof to show leadership, and the recurring complaint closed for good.

Highlights

  • Two prior panel purchases had not resolved the recurring complaint
  • Calibrated measurement showed transmission between rooms, not reverberation inside one
  • Corrective work was phased around an occupied, operating building
  • Before-and-after data gave the director proof to show leadership

Packaging Room Noise Exposure Assessment

A manufacturer's packaging room put 7 of 10 employees over the OSHA action level. Memtech Acoustics ran full-shift dosimetry and octave-band area mapping, isolated the tonal and broadband sources, and defined the engineering controls, so the fix targeted the noise rather than defaulting to hearing protection.

Auditorium Proscenium Acoustic Design

A school district planned to redesign its auditorium's stage proscenium for a fresh look. Memtech Acoustics measured the room first, proved the existing curved reflector was doing real acoustic work, and delivered a redesigned proscenium that preserves sound projection to every seat while giving the design team the updated aesthetic.
