J. Baldwin's Restaurant

J Baldwins

Location: Clinton Township, MI

Introduction:

When wefirst met the owners of J. Baldwins at the Michigan Restaurant Show, they were in the process of fixing damage from a recent fire.

They planned to keep their concrete floors along with other hard surfaces that would create problems with excessive noise reflection in the dining room that would create reverberation (echo).

This would therefore make it difficult for them to achieve their goal of a comfortable atmosphere for their customers to have conversations.

The Search for a Solution:

By obtaining the total room volume, we are able to determine how much absorption would be needed to lower total ambient noise level and subsequently reduce reverberation in the restaurant.

Due to the restaurant design, the only place available for placing the panels was the ceiling.

The Treatment Provided:

In order to acquire the best absorption possible, we suggested using Sonex Valueline Panels that would be painted a medium grey color.

This color fortunately matchedperfectly with the current wall paint color and the panels blended right in.

The Results:

By installing the Valueline Panels, we were able to control the noise levelsin the room, substantially reducing the reverberation.

By successfully reducing the reverberation (echo) in the room, both customers and employees were able to engage in conversation easier, subsequently creating a more comfortable environmentfor customers, as well as for employees.
