Reduce Sound Transmission Between Spaces.

As construction budget and performance demands grow and clients expect quieter, higher-performing spaces, QuietRock® offers a proven solution that fits standard wall construction methods.

By integrating viscoelastic damping technology into a single gypsum panel, QuietRock® provides the acoustic performance of multi-layer assemblies without need for extra framing or dealing with excessive panel thickness.

Memtech Acoustics partners with general contractors and project managers to ensure your wall systems meet sound transmission (STC) targets and occupant privacy requirements, delivered within budget.
QuietRock® panels are perfect for:
  • Limited Space: Achieves high STC ratings without adding bulk or extra layers.
  • Labor Efficiency: One panel replaces multiple layers of standard drywall.
  • Code Compliance: Meets and exceeds IBC, LEED, and ASTM E90 requirements.
  • Acoustic Performance: Reduces airborne noise transfer between rooms, offices, or units.
  • Durability & Compatibility: Installs with standard tools and techniques. No special training or adhesives required.

QuietRock® 510

1/2″ QuietRock® 510 is a cost-effective sound damping gypsum panel ideal for new construction and remodeling applications. Installs and finishes like standard gypsum panels, no special tools required.

QuietRock® 510 outperforms other noise control alternatives such as multiple gypsum panels, fiberboard, and insulation. The product is UL classified and can be used as an additional layer in fire resistance rated assemblies.
Key Benefits:
  • 1/2" sound damped gypsum panel for new or retrofit construction
  • Ideal for remodels and upgrades, easily installs over existing walls, with no demolition required
  • Continues to reduce noise even when fixtures are installed, such as shelves or cabinets
  • Outperforms other sound attenuation methods, including multi-layered gypsum panels, fiberboard, and insulation

QuietRock® 530

QuietRock® 530 is a versatile, high performance sound damping gypsum panel that delivers superb noise reduction with shear and impact resistance.

This premium panel is UL Certified for use on several fire-resistance rated assemblies and installs and finishes like other paper faced gypsum board but will require a power saw to cut.

In certain installations the steel core may disrupt cellular and Wi-Fi connectivity. QuietRock® 530 is also available with radio frequency shielding, see QuietRock® 530RF.
Key Benefits:
  • 5/8” sound damped gypsum panel with added shear and impact resistance
  • For use in high traffic areas prone to impact, such as schools, hospitals and correctional facilities
  • Highly reliable sound control that cannot be easily compromised like resilient channel, even when fixtures are installed
  • For use in load bearing and non-load bearing assemblies

QuietRock® 530RF

QuietRock 530RF is a high-performance sound damping gypsum panel that is typically used in the construction of high security environments such as SCIF rooms, government offices, and data centers where radio frequency disturbances can disrupt security, data, and equipment.

Use of the complete QuietRF® System is required to achieve the RF shielding. This includes QuietRock 530RF, QuietSeam RF and RF Tape.

QuietRock 530RF is UL Certified for use on many fire-resistance rated assemblies, provides resistance to impact in high traffic areas, and can provide added shear resistance. The panels install and finish like other paper-faced gypsum board, but require a power saw to cut.
Key Benefits:
  • 5/8” sound damped gypsum panel with radio frequency (RF) shielding
  • SCIF application approved – RF shielding tested in accordance with IEEE-STD-299
  • Same benefits as QR530 plus certified RF shielding providing a single product application suitable for sensitive computer and instrumentation facilities requiring sound control, fire resistance, and exceptional durability
  • Fully grounded metal to metal connected room without requiring metal or foil underlayment

QuietRock® 545

QuietRock® 545 is a multi-layer, specialty panel engineered to provide maximum sound attenuation across a broad range of frequencies.

QuietRock® 545 is ideal for commercial theaters, studios, performance spaces, and music rooms where low-frequency mitigation is critical.

The panels are UL Certified for use on many fire-resistance rated assemblies and install and finish like other paper faced gypsum board but require a power saw to cut. Proper installation procedures must be followed due to its weight.
Performance & Design Highlights:
  • 1-3/8” sound damped panel with added mass for low frequency attenuation
  • Highest performing sound reducing gypsum panel available, delivering maximum sound isolation across a broad frequency range
  • Ideal for high-end home theaters, studios, commercial theaters, mechanical rooms, and other situations where low frequency noise and vibration are of concern
  • Outperforms other sound attenuation products, including multi-layered assemblies, resilient channel, and soundboard
  • Can achieve a 2 hour fire-rating with a single layer application

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is QuietRock®?
QuietRock® is a sound-reducing drywall that provides high acoustic performance using built-in viscoelastic damping technology. It replaces traditional multi-layer drywall systems with a single panel for simpler installation and superior sound isolation.
How does QuietRock® work?
Each panel contains a viscoelastic polymer layer sandwiched between two sheets of gypsum. This layer converts sound energy into heat through molecular friction to dramatically reduce airborne sound transmission.
What are the advantages of QuietRock® over regular drywall?
It achieves STC ratings up to 80+, reduces labor by eliminating multiple layers, and maintains standard installation methods for framing, taping, and finishing.
Where is QuietRock® used?
Common in multifamily housing, hotels, schools, offices, healthcare, and recording studios—anywhere privacy and noise control are priorities.
Does QuietRock® replace resilient channels or isolation clips?
In many cases, yes. A single layer of QuietRock® often performs as well as (or better than) multi-layer assemblies with channels, reducing cost and complexity.
Is installation different from standard drywall?
Not at all. It cuts, secures, and finishes like regular gypsum board using conventional tools. No special adhesives are required.
Does QuietRock® contribute to LEED or green building credits?
Yes. Its high performance can reduce materials and waste while contributing to LEED and material efficiency credits.
What’s the typical lead time for material supply?
Most QuietRock® products are delivered within 2–3 weeks, with project-specific deliveries coordinated through Memtech’s material procurement team.
